The RC12HD is the largest rope/chain windlass in Maxwell’s RC range as well as the Power & Sail range in general. The RC12HD is well suited to light duty commercial vessels requiring high service speeds, for example those conscious of bow weight or those looking to anchor more frequently or for longer periods of time (i.e., patrol boats, speed boats, high speed ferries, sailing catamarans, those requiring deep sea anchoring, commercial fishers, etc.). This windlass is available in a variety of power options and layout configurations, and with the capability of in-factory certification society testing the RC12HD can be adapted to nearly every installation requirement. The 24V version of the RC12HD is fitted with a 2000W fan-cooled motor and higher-capacity gearbox taken from the superyacht range, thus allowing for extended run times and a heavier duty cycle.
The RC12HD features Maxwell’s patented Wave Design™ chainwheel and is built to effortlessly retrieve and deploy 10mm–13mm (3/8″–1/2”) short link chain and 16mm–22mm (5/8″–7/8”) 8-plait rope (depending on which model is selected). Chainwheels are interchangeable so the RC12HD specifications remain the same across the model range, only the chainwheel is altered depending on which model is selected.
- Important: Maxwell windlasses must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or alternative snubbing device to take the load off the windlass while laying at anchor. The chain stopper and alternative snubbing system should also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position while under way.
