The COMKIT5 features the front-mount style cylinder: Model 516FM and is suitable for leisure boats with single outboards up to 200HP or twin outboards up to 400HP TOTAL (counter-rotating).
This kit includes the front-mount style cylinder Model 516FM that is manufactured in high tensile aluminium for performance and protection with precision ground and polished 316 stainless steel piston rods for maximum service life.
The COMKIT5 is suitable for leisure boats with single outboards up to 200HP or twin outboards up to 400HP TOTAL (counter-rotating).
Is This the Right Kit for My Boat?
Advantages of the Front Mount steering kits installation is directly onto most V4 and V6 outboards and mounts to the front of the motor using 4 small bolts. Attaches to the outboard motor’s tiller arm using the motor’s existing drag-link.
Measure the narrowest section of your engine well – the Front Mount kits are all 540mm wide plus they need a little extra room for the engine to turn so ideally you’ll need Clearance (C) approx 740mm , as the cylinder tilts down with the motor you need to ensure this has room in front of the moto
r both Clearance (A) & Clearance (B) approx 120 – 150mm . Measure carefully, particularly with tapered wells

Easy Installation:
These Hydrive Commander small-boat steering kits make it a very simple DIY installation.
Installation of HyDrive steering equipment is very simple. From the minute you open the box and begin to read the comprehensive instructions, you will find the system has been designed to be installed by even the most inexperienced boating enthusiast, without any hydraulic knowledge. Everything you need is included, right down to the nuts, bolts, and Loctite.
Other Kits Available: materials used to build them. While other brands use anodised or painted aluminum cylinders, the HyDrive Admiral Series Kits use Chromed Brass, Bronze and Stainless steel materials – built for the toughest marine environment. The Admiral Kits also use a better quality 401 Helm Pump Unit.
Commander Kits – Utilise an aluminium cylinder design, with unique electrolytic insulation between metals for maximum corrosion resistance. Commander kits use the 501 Helm Pump Unit.
Different Versions – Some Honda & Mercury Outboards – may require a different version of this kit to avoid interference with the motor cowl – these versions are also listed below.
